Fishing: Paint Creek & Plum Orchard Lake

Anglers who are lodging at H&H Cabin will enjoy our proximity to two of West Virginia's legendary fishing areas. Plum Orchard Lake in the Plum Orchard Lake Wildlife Management Area (WMA), at 202 acres is among the best Bluegill holes in the U.S. and only a five-minute drive from the cabin. The Paint Creek, from the cabin area downstream to Skitter Creek, is one of the most accessible
trout streams in the U.S.  Interstate 77 (I-77) follows its course from the Kanawha Valley through the mountains into the New River Gorge region.

Biking: The Paint Creek Trail

The Paint Creek Rail Trail is a developing hiking and biking route that follows the creek's winding valley from the cabin area north to the Kanawha River. Much of its 25-mile route winds through a dark green woodland of hemlock and rhododendron, of waterfalls, cliffs, and boulders. The Paint Creek between Mossy and Burnwell is also a popular kayaking stream, featuring Class II-IV rapids.
